About Cupra
Cupra is a new brand from the Volkswagen Group, created in 2018 as a spin-off from the Spanish Seat brand in Europe.
The Cupra name was previously used to represent the sportiest versions of Seat vehicles, just as the GTI and R badges are used by VW.
The Cupra brand launched in Australia in mid 2022, with an initial line-up of three models: the Leon hatchback, Ateca SUV and Formentor crossover.
These models are powered by either turbocharged petrol engines or plug-in hybrid drivetrains, though Cupra is moving towards becoming a fully electric car maker by 2030.
Cupra’s first EV is the Born hatchback. Another three models will be added to Cupra showrooms by 2026 – comprising the Terramar plug-in hybrid SUV, Tavascan electric SUV, and the compact Urban Rebel electric hatchback.
